TN Government starts a TV Channel from Temple Funds

A writ (W.P. No. 20319 of 2020) was filed by the Indic Collective Trust challenging a G.O. No. 169 of 2020 issued by the Tamil Nadu Government, authorising the HR&CE Department to appropriate Rs.29.07 Crores from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Common Good Fund to start a TV Channel. The said petition was dismissed by an Hon’ble Bench of Madras High Court. The Trust will file a review petition in this matter. The HC order dated 18.02.2021 dismissing our petition is available below.

The management of our temples and its fund needs to be localised within a given radius of the temples. If there 12 committee members then only 1 representative of the HR&CE and government must be involved to prevent misappropriation of funds and ensure proper accountability.
