Temple Queue Petition

W. P No. 28882 of 2017 before the Madras High Court – The Indic Collective filed a Writ Petition opposing paid darshan privileges which were unilaterally introduced by the TN HRCE Department without having the power to do so. The High Court held that while paid Darshan system is permissible for better management of queues, it cannot translate to better access to the Deity. Consequently, the High Court held that devotees in the free darshan queue and devotees in the paid darshan queue shall have Darshan from the same point and there shall be no discrimination in this regard.
